Mike Falconer died in 1982 in Germany, leaving behind his fiancee Susan, his parents, his three sisters and one niece, who happens to be the webmaster here. Thanks to all of you who organized the Falconer Invitational Golf tournament for many years, it was a source of joy to us. If you'd like to include a funny story here, by all means email it to me and I'll add it. I have a million but I'll include two related ones that still make me laugh.

1. About 1979 and he was living in the cottage behind Slugs, down from Finley. I was at Glenwood Elementary, it started snowing and school was let out. My mom called Mike, since he was really next to the school, could he just swing by and pick me up? Always willing to help, he drive right up to get me. My next door neighbor and I took one look at the inside of his car - which looked like a tornado hit and decided to walk home instead of riding in that car.

2. Same car, same time frame. The car is stolen and found abandoned, on the side of the road. They call Mike and his sister Cathie drives him up to where the car was found. The police tell him the car has been trashed and show it to him. He gets mad as a hornet and starts talking to the cop about how bad the car looks, really going on about what a job those thieves did, trashing his car...on and on. Cathie comes up to look at the car, it looks NO different than it normally did.

  • One from Dale Paoloni: I was in Mike’s bedroom our senior year in high school and it is around 6 or 7 in the evening. Mike decided he was going to have a cigarette, and since his parents didn’t want him to smoke, Mike opened his window and hung his head outside. Not realizing that his dad was emptying the trash, Mike’s dad saw him and threw an old head of lettuce at Mike, hitting him in the head and breaking his cigarette. When Mike pulled his head back into the room he had rotten lettuce all over his head, and a broken cigarette hanging from his mouth!

Mary Hall Rodman tells us, "I was a barista in Seattle in the late eighties, early nineties. I enjoyed the business. In September, I opened a coffee bar in Las Vegas. It's doing great!" superchief@cybermesa.com

Mike Rubish passed away in 1997, leaving a wife, parents, two brothers and their families...He is missed. (note from webmaster, Mike was a dear friend to my uncle Mike Falconer, see above, and I note his passing here with deep regret. He was an original and after my uncle died, his smiling face and infectious laugh gave me a lot of joy. If you'd like to include a funny story here, by all means email it to me and I'll add it. Phil Hawkins told me a great story about Mike mooning him, David Lane and Dick Drogos (both '72) from his car while they were all driving down the boulevard.
