PLEASE HELP US PAY OFF THE REUNION
We hope you had a good time at the family day and the reunion. However, we are in a difficult situation and need some help. If you can, please make a donation with paypal to help us pay off the reunion debt.

The debt comes from losing a $1,000 deposit at the Siena due to low initial interest (it would have been much worse if we stayed there) plus people who RSVPed that they were coming but didn't.

The 'ChipIn' tool to the right lets you use PAYPAL to donation what you can to help out (if you can, toss in $1 extra to cover paypal expenses). You can send a check to Eileen Stough, PO Box 16129, Chapel Hill, NC 27516. Anything would be helpful and thanks!

Want to see photos from the Reunion? Have photos to share? Have old HS photos too? We have added two groups on Flickr for photos from the Reunion and photos from HS. To view or upload photos, you have to have Flickr account, which is free for the basic membership. Just upload your photos to your own account and then move them to whichever group they go in. Or you can always email them to michelle and she will do it all.

Welcome to the reunion website for the CHHS Class of 1988. Please come join your classmates for a wonderful 20th reunion, set for the weekend of June 20-21st, 2008 in Chapel Hill. We are looking forward to a fun weekend with friends and family.

The reunion committee of Kenyetta Farrington Walker, Eileen Shinn Stough, Michelle Donahue Hillison, Yolanda Riggsbee Hamer and Gary Hill have been hard at work for a great reunion. We do need your help finding missing classmates so check the link above.

June 1st update, we have changed the actual reunion location to the Courtyard Marriott that is near Meadowmont and the Friday Center. Please tell others that we are NOT at the Siena anymore. Also if you haven't let us know that you are coming or even that you may be coming, please email Eileen Shinn Stough.

SCHEDULE

Friday night - Join friends for informal cocktails Top of the Hill. Feel free to bring friends from other classes along too!

Saturday 11am to 2pm - Bring the kids along for family picnic on Saturday during the day. We have a location but are confirming it now - we hope to be at the high school again. Bounce house, sports stuff and fun for all.

Saturday Evening - Come see old friends and make new ones while eating, dancing and socializing. Heavy hors d'oeuvre (think pasta stations, appetizers, etc), DJ and dancing.

Saturday night is now at the Courtyard Marriott instead of the Siena. The Courtyard is off 54, near the Friday Center.

PAYMENT DETAILS

Advance Cost: $45 pp or $75/couple (check or paypal)
At the Door Cost: $55 pp of $85/couple (CASH ONLY)

Want to pay online? We do accept paypal. Advance Cost: $45 pp or $75/couple (check or paypal). It costs us $2.75 per $75 so it will be $77.75 to pay with paypal, $1.75 for $45. (Remember - the 'at the door cost' is higher and cash only - $55 pp of $85/couple)

NOTES

Many CHHS alumni are mourning the loss of teacher Alycia Allen. Alycia passed away suddenly from complications of diabetes at the age of 56 on December 18, 2007. Ms Allen taught in the Chapel Hill-Carrboro schools from 1975-1998, where she shared her love of dance, ceramics, art, cheerleading and theatre with sutdents. Her tribute website is located at www.alyciaallen.org.

Another sad loss to report from the faculty, as teacher AK Smith passed away recently. His son Keith (88) sent us this info on his passing:

AK Smith taught at CHHS for 40 years, AP Physics, AP Chem, Astronomy, Photography and the last year he was actually the acting principal. AK passed away on Wed April 3rd - he had been fighting Leukemia for many years. We will be having a memorial service at Walker Funeral Home on Sunday April 13th, 2:00pm.

He worked extensively with the College Board assisting colleagues nationally to establish their own Advanced Placement curriculums, and received the First Siemens Award for Advanced Placement National Scholar Award in 2000. Throughout his career AK challenged young minds because the students challenged him.
